Mr John J. Moss

John J. Moss (64) was reunited with our Lord and Savior on August 18, 2023. He was born on August 29, 1958, in Rochester, New York and was the son of Ann Francis O’Hara Moss and Donald W. Moss Sr. (deceased). 

John was a devout Christian who dedicated his entire life and career to helping his fellow man both as a clinician and employer of thousands over a period more than forty years. He grew up in inner city Rochester, NY and at the young age of 18 made his way to the greater Boston area via a visit with family in Nova Scotia where he decided to follow a career path of helping others. Already an EMT in New York, he enrolled in Northeastern University where he earned his Certificate of Paramedicine and an associate degree in Fire Science.

He began his career in emergency medicine as a Paramedic and Supervisor with Cataldo Ambulance of Everett, MA where he assisted in the establishment of 911 services in several cities and towns. In 1986, after a short stint with Boston Med Flight, he co-founded Paramedic Systems, Inc. of Bristol, RI. He soon after acquired Alert Ambulance Service, Inc. of Fairhaven, MA and Raceway Ambulance Service of Loudon, NH. He was an active member of the Bristol fire department EMS division for thirty-seven years and a practicing paramedic through his final days. He has owned and operated Bristol Auto Body Works, Inc. since 2012 and several other businesses over the years. John was a strong supporter of small business and often assumed the role of silent partner to help an individual realize their dream of owning a business.

He never forgot his humble beginnings and gave thanks to God every day. A man of modest means, his Bible was his most valued worldly possession. It is where he found his inner peace and strength and the promise of life ever after. He will be remembered for his generosity and willingness to assist those in need; never hesitating to fulfill a request for help be it financial, physical, or spiritual.

John is survived by his Mother Ann Francis Moss, siblings Timothy P. Moss, Michael D. Moss, Maureen A. Moss, Steven E. Moss (Kris), Donald W. Moss Jr. (Chris), Terrance B. Moss, Kathleen E. Palmerini (Angelo) as well as Lexus Brown, who he recognized as his beloved granddaughter. He also leaves many nieces, nephews, cousins, dear Aunts, closest friend and “Brother” Thomas M. Carroll and several endearing friends he considered to be family. He was predeceased by his Father Donald W. Moss Sr. and Brother Kevin M. Moss (Sue).

His funeral will be held Saturday, September 2nd at 9:00 am from the Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood St. Bristol, RI with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at St. Mary’s Church 330 Wood St Bristol, RI. Visiting Hours are Friday September 1st from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Burial is private and will be held at a later date.
