Maria Virginia Morey

Maria Virginia (Santos) Morey, 82, of Bristol passed away peacefully on Monday, November 24, 2025. She was the loving wife of the late William H. Morey, Jr. for 62 years before his passing in June of 2024.

Born in Fall River, MA, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Margaret (Sousa) Santos. She graduated from Bristol Senior High School in 1960.

Maria was a secretary for the Providence Department of Social Welfare for many years. She enjoyed reading and playing cards. She loved Bristol, especially enjoying walks downtown. She loved to travel, she visited Toronto, Canada, Niagara Falls, Canada, Detroit, MI, Washington D.C, New York City, NY, and Lancaster, PA. Maria enjoyed watching talent programs on TV, ‘The Voice’ and ‘AGT’ ; Americas got Talent. She liked judges Blake Shelton and Adam Levine on the Voice. For music, she liked oldies from the 1950s and 1960s but also enjoyed modern artists like David Foster, Andrea Bocelli, and Josh Groban. In 2011, Josh performed in Providence at the then Dunkin Donuts Center. Her husband William took her to this nighttime concert which she loved!

Maria is survived by her son: Clifford W. Morey; her brother: Arthur Santos; and many relatives and friends.

Visiting Hours are respectfully omitted. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, December 19, 2025 at 10:00 AM at St. Elizabeth’s Church, 577 Wood Street, Bristol. Maria will be laid to rest with her beloved husband William at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Chestnut Street, Bristol.
