Mrs. Helen (Duarte) Surgento, age 95 of Laurel Lane, Warren, died peacefully Thursday, September 26, 2019 in Silver Creek Manor, Bristol. She was the wife of the late Anthony J. Surgento, her husband of 55 years, who preceded her in death in April 26, 2007. Born in Little Compton, she was a daughter of the late Antonio and Alice (Silvia) Duarte. Helen was a Warren resident for 85 years.
A homemaker for most of her life, she worked at American Tourister, formerly in Warren for several years. Helen loved spending time with her family, cooking, taking rides to Colt State Park, dancing, doing word search puzzles and trips to local casinos.
She is survived by her children, Christine Shorey (the late Glendon R.), Anthony J. Surgento, Jr. (Jamie), Helen Wallace (the late Eugene), all of Warren and Leo Thomas in Florida. Twelve grandchildren, Nathan, Christopher, Maryellen, Allen, Kenneth, Eugene, Brenda, Deborah, Colleen, Steven, David and Marc, and several great and great-great grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.
Funeral services from the Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood Street, Bristol, Monday, September 30, 2019 at 9:00 AM with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in St. Mary’s Church, 330 Wood Street, Bristol. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Chestnut Street, Bristol. Visiting hours will be Sunday, September 29, 2019 from 4:00-6:00 PM.
