Welcome to the memorial page for

Mr. Ralph J. Fasano

December 22, 1935 ~ May 13, 2017 (age 81) 81 Years Old

Ralph John Fasano, 81, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 13, 2017 in Bristol, RI after a long and full life. He is survived by his wife, Elaine (Luongo) Fasano, mother of Jeanne Andreoli, Christine Andreoli and the late Michael Andreoli; and former spouse, Karole Zanella and their children, John Fasano, Stephen Fasano, Anne (Fasano) Gibb, Christopher Fasano, Amy Fasano, Sarah (Fasano) Gibb and Margaret (Fasano) Camara. He was “Grandpa” to 34 loving grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Born in Bristol on December 22, 1935, he was the son of the late John Fasano and Frances (Campagna) Fasano. Ralph grew up in Bristol and attended Colt High School. As a young man, he earned his degree from Boston University. Shortly thereafter, he began working professionally as a photographer and salesman, most notably creating Picturefair Studios of Centerdale where he focused on portraits and wedding photography.

Eventually, he decided to branch out and create a unique niche in the industry. His idea was simple: to take pictures of people at work. He realized that most people have few, if any, photos of themselves in the places where they spend most of their waking hours. So from business to business he went, taking pictures of firemen, chefs, auto mechanics, barbers and countless others. He toted his camera around his neck, offered a smile, sometimes told a story and occasionally a joke or two, all while selling his pictures for a reasonable price. Over the years, he became a well-known and appreciated figure. Thousands of people bought and many still have his pictures - rare glimpses into their own histories long before the days of digital cameras. Ralph’s own family became the subject of endless rolls of film, documenting the silly and the serious; the moments that make up lifetimes. Now more than ever, they are grateful for the snapshots of days gone by.

Ralph was a history buff, devouring books and movies with a fascination that earned him the distinction of being an expert within the family. As such, he spent many hours teaching his children and grandchildren the intricacies of U.S. and European history; time well spent he often said. Also, as a lover of poetry, opera, literature and film, he greatly enjoyed the richness of each of these art forms. Ralph’s passion for great food was also a source of much happiness for him; be it in cooking together or in sharing a meal with friends or family, he loved the joy that a great meal (especially Italian) would bring.

Finally, and most importantly, Ralph loved Jesus and encouraged his family and friends in the faith. He often spoke of the promise of eternal life, when we will be joined with our Lord in paradise. We miss you Ralph, “Dad,” “Grandpa,” and we look forward to that day when we will see you again.

John 3:16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.
