Valeda Silva, 82, a native of Bristol, passed away peacefully at her daughter’s home surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday December 23, 2020.
A proud Bristolian, she was the daughter of the late Valeda (Normandin) and Manuel Silvia.
Valeda was a remarkable cook and baker and her family’s favorite dishes were her delicious crepes, homemade French fries, fudge, icebox cake, grapenut pudding, and braciole. She was an avid Elvis Presley fan and memorabilia collector. Valeda enjoyed playing cards and usually wiped the floor with her opponents. She was well known for her epic fourth of July parties and making the holidays so special for her family. She enjoyed capturing moments in pictures of her friends and family.
Most of all she was known as a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Those that knew her well will cherish the memory of her quick wit and warm big smile. She was a good friend to all, the best listener, always giving so much and asking for so little in return. She always gave of her time and heart, we will miss her every day.
Those left to cherish Valeda’s memory are her children: Valeda Kennedy (Steven) of Bristol, Kerri Ferreira (Michael) of Fall River, and Joseph Silva of Bristol.
She relished her role as Grammy to her grandchildren: Shiann Rioux of Fall River, Steven Kennedy of Bristol, Cassie Andrade (Brandon) of Bristol, Mindi Ferreira of Fall River and her great grandchildren: Dominic, Mya, Zeeyin, and her “buttercup” Harrison.
She also leaves behind decades of memories with her siblings: Richard Silvia of Warren, Mary Dorsey of Bristol and her sister-in-law Theresa Silvia of Portsmouth. Valeda will also be fondly remembered by many loving nieces, nephews, and friends, especially her best friend Kim Luz.
In addition to her parents, Valeda is now reunited with her siblings: Manuel Silvia, Frank “QQ” Silvia, and Robert “Bobby” Silvia.
