Mrs. Shirley A. (Palma) Vince Vadnais, age 81 of Carr Lane, Bristol, died Tuesday, February 19, 2019 at her home, surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of Edmond J. Vadnais and the late Richard S. Vince, who preceded her in death in Aug. 1989. Born in Providence and a lifelong resident of Bristol, she was a daughter of the late Ralph and Mary (Correira) Palma.

Shirley was a graduate of Colt Memorial High School, Bristol, Class of 1955, she was the general manager for the former Wardwell Lumber Company in Bristol for 39 years and then worked for the Ferland Corporation of Pawtucket for 5 years, retiring in 2000. A communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church and a member of its Rosary and Altar Society. Shirley loved spending time with family and their monthly entertainment trips. She enjoyed many winters in Sarasota, Florida, where they spent time with a very special group of friends, enjoying dinners, shopping and beach time. She loved to travel to Ogunquit, Maine, where she vacationed in the spring. She especially enjoyed her weekly Canasta games with her life-long friends.

She is survived in addition to her husband by two children, E.J. Sousa (Isabel) and Doreen Vadnais (Kenneth) both of Bristol, step-children, Diane LaFleur (Emile) of Coventry, Kenneth Vadnais (Doreen) of Bristol and Elizabeth Vadnais of Swansea, MA, four grandchildren, Sean Vadnais, Jordan, Madison and Julia Sousa, five step-grandchildren, Andrew, Dennis (Brittany) and Therese LaFleur and Charles and Isabel Sousa, a brother, Ralph Palma (Ann) of Bristol, and sisters, Geraldine Sloat (George Foster) and JoAnn Labao (John) both of Bristol. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Joseph Palma.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial, Saturday, March 2, 2019 at 10:30 AM in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 141 State Street, Bristol. Burial will follow in The Cremation Garden at North Burial Ground, Hope Street, Bristol. Visiting hours are respectfully omitted.
