Rosemary Amaral

Rosemary Amaral, 79, passed away from heart failure on Monday, January 16, 2023 at Port Shore Hospital in Port Charlotte, Florida.

Born in Bristol and raised on Burton Street, she lived in Ponta Gorda, FL for the last 10 years. She was the daughter of the late John and Mary (Pasquarelli) Amaral.

A member of Bristol High School graduating class of 1961, Rosemary enjoyed helping organize her class reunions over the years. She also took good care of her mother when she lived in Rhode Island, and was always very family oriented.

Rosemary previously worked as a bank teller in Bristol and with an insurance company, and was previously employed at Hope Diner with her good friend Amy Walsh. She cared deeply for the Walsh family, Amy and Joel, and their children. Morgan and Aiden, whom she considered part of her family. They used to call her “Grandma”, and her companion Richard they called “Pepe”.

Rosemary was also very active helping her mother in the ticket booth at the annual Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church 16th of July Feast, as well as the Colombian Fathers outing each summer. Rosemary never missed a Fourth of July parade and was anxious to come back to her hometown each year for the festivities.

A kind hearted soul who leaves behind many friends, she will be dearly missed.

Rosemary is survived by her companion Richard LaCroix, her brother John “Kool Kat” Amaral and many extended family and friends.

Visitation will be held on Friday, February 10, 2023 from 4-7 PM at Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood Street, Bristol. Burial will be private.
