Mrs. Mary A. (Castigliego) DeFusco, age 98, a lifelong resident of Bristol, died Sunday, August 13, 2017 at the Adams House, 1168 Highland Avenue, Fall River, MA, surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Carmine “Babe” DeFusco, who preceded her in death in 1995. Born in Manfredonia, Italy and immigrated to Bristol as a young infant, she was a daughter of the late Stefano and Nunzia (Armillotta) Castigliego. Mary was a textile worker for many years at the former Bristol Manufacturing Company, Bristol retiring in the late 1960’s. She was an artist, loved working with oil paints and enjoyed sketching, taking a number of classes at Rhode Island School of Design and at Don’s Art Shop in Warren, taking part in many art competitions and shows in the area. Mary enjoyed working in her yard planting and caring for flowers and her vegetable gardens. She is survived by three children; Shirley DeCosta and Nancy Lima, both of Somerset, MA and Robert DeFusco of Westerly, seven grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Nicholas DeFusco, a brother, Nicholas Castigliego and a sister, Nicoletta Quintal. Funeral services from the Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood Street, Bristol, Saturday, August 19, 2017 at 9:00 AM with a graveside service at 10:00 AM in North Burial Ground, Hope Street, Bristol.
