Marie S. Sylvester

Marie “Mae” (Saucier) Sylvester, 89, passed away peacefully at her home in Bristol on December 12, 2020 with her loving family at her side. She was the wife of the late James J. Sylvester.

Born in the Artic Center of West Warwick, she was the daughter of the late Antoinette (Provost) and Edward Saucier.

Raised in Bristol, she attended Bristol Public Schools. Mae worked as the Circulation Manager for the Bristol Phoenix for many years until her retirement in 1995. Mae enjoyed Country Line Dancing on Saturday nights with her friends. Most of all she loved to cook for her family and spending time with her family.

Mae is survived by her sons: James J. Sylvester II (Madalena) and Mark E. Sylvester; her grandsons: James J. Sylvester III and David Sylvester; and her sisters Dorothy S. Viera and Irene Caulder.

In addition to her husband James and her parents, Mae was predeceased by her daughter: Dorothy Hillsman; her sisters: Genevieve Carroll and Donalda Martin; and her Daughter-in-Law Lisa Sylvester.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM on Saturday January 9, 2021 inside St. Mary’s Church, 330 Wood Street, Bristol. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her name can be made to Bristol Rescue Squad, 4 Annawamscutt Drive, Bristol, RI.
