Marie O. Bogan

May 18, 1935 ~ March 9, 2024 (age 88) 88 Years Old

Tribute

Marie O. Bogan, 88, passed away peacefully at her home in Little Compton on Saturday, March 9, 2024 surrounded by her family.

Born in Bristol, she was the daughter of the late Sergio “Seth” and Mary (Medeiros) Maciel.

Marie graduated from Colt Memorial High School in Bristol in 1953. After high school, Marie went on to study Nursing at Charlton School of Nursing and she was a Registered Nurse for the City of Springfield, MA for many years.

Marie and her former husband, Paul, raised their children in Westfield, MA and made many lifetime friends in that area. She loved the warm weather, going to Hawaii in the winters, visiting her cousin Betty in California and spending her summers in Little Compton where she liked to spend her time with her children, grandchildren and friends. She loved sports, playing basketball in high school and following the PC friars, the Patriots and Celtics throughout her life. Marie would never miss her children or grandchildren’s games.

Marie was known as one of the kindest and gentlest women, always lending an ear and supporting to everyone. Her children would like to thank Barbara and Tony at Southcoast Palliative & Hospice for all of the laughs and support that they provided Marie; additionally, Marie’s wish to stay at home in Little Compton was made possible by the incredible caregivers under the guidance of Betsy (thank you Heather, Jodi, Rebecca, Stephanie and Tammy for keeping Marie safe and for the incredible times you shared with her), Stay at Home Little Compton and most importantly her grandson Stephen who ensured that there was always another caregiver or him playing music, singing and dancing with Marie right up until her passing.

Marie is survived by her children: Shaun Bogan (Jennifer) of Westport, MA, Timothy Bogan (Richard McCarthy) of Tiburon, CA, Erin Bogan of Wilbraham, MA; her grandchildren: Emily Bogan, Patrick Morin, Brennen Morin, Caitlin Morin, Stephen Bogan; and many extended family and friends.

Marie was pre-deceased by her parents Seth and Mary Maciel as well as her brother Anthony Maciel.
