Joseph ‘Joe’ Costa Jr., 87, of Bristol passed away at RI Hospital on Thursday, July 11, 2019. He was born in California to the late Joseph and Anna Costa of Warren and resided in Bristol for 65 years with his loving wife, Agnes (Sousa) Costa.
Joe was employed by Stop & Shop for 38 years. He was an avid sports fan and pursued his passion for golf. He participated in several leagues including the Knights of Columbus and Seekonk Men’s Golf Leagues. He was also a longtime member of the Joseph Abate Bowling League and a member of the Bristol Seniors. Joe took extreme pride in being a U.S. Army veteran.
Joe is survived by his wife Agnes and four children; Richard Costa and his wife Janice of Bristol; Stephen Costa and his wife Debra of Bristol; Margaret Alegria of Bristol; Matthew Costa and his wife Micaela of East Greenwich. Joe leaves behind eight grandchildren including the late Ashley Costa and nine great grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister, Olivia Accairdo of Warren and two brothers, Alfred DaCosta of Vermont and Edward Costa of Westerly. Joe was dedicated to his family and will be deeply missed by everyone.
Friends and family are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, July 22 at 11 A.M. at St. Elizabeth Church, 577 Wood Street, Bristol, Rhode Island. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Chestnut Street, Bristol, Rhode Island.
