Joan D. Johnson, 82, of Bristol passed away peacefully in Newport on Tuesday, August 1, 2023. She was the loving wife of the late Robert W. Johnson for over 40 years before his passing in November of 2003.

Born in McKeesport, PA she was the daughter of the late John Derkas and the late Cecelia (Eichler) Wozniak.

Joan was a communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Bristol where she was an active member for many years. Joan loved working for the Barrington Public Schools as a Volunteer Coordinator for decades.

Joan is survived by her children: Scott P. Johnson (Jessani), Randall B. Johnson (Sandra), Mary K. Rauner (Kurt); her grandchildren: Hannah Gomez (Adrian), Will Johnson (Haley), Jack Johnson (Tori), Katey Johnson, Benjamin Johnson, Nicholas Johnson, Spencer Rauner, Wyatt Rauner, Luke Rauner; her great grandchild: Sammy Gomez; and her extended family and friends.

She was pre-deceased by her husband Robert, father John Derkas, her mother Cecelia Derkas Wozniak, and her stepfather Walter Wozniak.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, August 7, 2023, at 10 AM at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 141 State Street, Bristol. Joan will be laid to rest with her husband Robert at North Burial Ground, Hope Street, Bristol. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her name can be made to The Potter League for Animals, 87 Oliphant Ln, Middletown, RI 02842.
