November 16, 1937 ~ September 16, 2020 (age 82) 82 Years Old

Tribute

Inez (Hampson) Craig, 82, of Bristol passed away Wednesday, September 16, 2020. She was born in Coventry, Rhode Island, the daughter of the late Harold and Inez (Rathbun) Hampson. After graduating from Coventry High School, Inez attended Barrington College. Later in life she attended the Community College of Rhode Island and Rhode Island College.

Inez married William Craig on January 18, 1958. They moved to Holyoke, Massachusetts while Bill served in the US Air Force. The family also lived in Shawnee, Oklahoma, Louisville, Kentucky, Columbia Station, Ohio, and St Louis, Missouri. Inez returned to Coventry, Rhode Island in 1979. She worked as a nursing assistant in pediatrics while living in Massachusetts and Oklahoma, and later worked at home, caring for her four children.

Inez was the sixth child in a family of twenty children. As a child her nickname was “Sunshine” because of her bright smile. During her teen years she helped to care for her younger siblings and cousins, enjoyed roller-skating, and was very involved with her church youth group. She also enjoyed spending time with her grandparents and helped to care for them in their later years.

Throughout her life Inez had a strong faith that guided her through life’s many challenges. She was passionate about education and encouraged her children to continue to their education. An avid reader, she enjoyed reading about history, especially the histories of Rhode Island and New England. In her later years she liked to shop and was known to find the best bargains. She enjoyed nature and the outdoors; camping with the family when her children were young, spending time near the ocean, and watching the birds outside her windows.
Inez is survived by her four children; Robin Lee Craig (Mark Rzchowski) of Wisconsin, Linda Craig-Aguiar (Alvaro) of Rhode Island, David Craig of Missouri, and James Craig of Massachusetts; her grandchildren, Sophie Rzchowski of Santiago, Chile, Anna Rzchowski of Wisconsin, Lyndsey Aguiar Dutra (Brian) of Rhode Island, and Alan Aguiar of Rhode Island; her surviving siblings, Annie Davis of Florida, Linda Renz Smedley of Maine, Judy Robinson of Florida, and Carol Vislocky of New York; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Inez was preceded in death by her parents and fifteen siblings, Harold, Edith Spirek, Edward, Harry, Donald, Roy, Norman, Roland, Charles, Jesse, Robert, David, Ruth Hricko, Marvin, and an infant girl.

There will be a celebration of life for Inez on Wednesday, September 23rd at 1:00, Chapel by the Sea, Colt State Park, Route 114, Bristol, Rhode Island. Burial, at the North Burial Ground, Bristol, will be private.
