Mrs. Hilda (Tavares) Mindyas, age 89, of Manchaca, Texas and formerly of Metacom Avenue, Bristol, died Sunday, February 10, 2019. She was the wife of the late Francis W. Mindyas. Born in Bristol, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Antonetta (Benevides) Tavares.
She was a partner in the J & H Cafeteria in the Furon Corp-Dixon Manufacturing in Bristol for several years, retiring in 1984. She previously was a waitress at the former Lou’s Spa on Metacom Avenue, Bristol for 18 years. Hilda was a communicant of St. Elizabeth’s Church, Bristol.
She is survived by two children; Janice Ann Frizzell of Manchaca, TX and Andrew John Mindyas of Columbia, TN, five grandchildren, six great grandchildren; and cousins Albert and Evelyn Benevides. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Manuel and James Tavares, and four sisters, Mary Lamarca, Rose Marshall, Julia Travassoa and Irene Frey.
