George F. Haray, 95, passed away in Middletown on Tuesday, July 26, 2022. He was the husband of the late Margaret (Garvin) Haray.
Born in Bridgeport, CT, he was one of twelve children born to Michael and Mary Blanuar) Haray. After high school, George enlisted in the United States Navy and proudly served in World War II and Korea and aboard the U.S.S Fiske and the U.S.S Sturtevant.
Upon returning to civilian life, George worked as a machinist at U.S Rubber and Herreshoff Boating for many years. George was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Bristol. A man of strong faith he was a proud member of the Knights of Columbus. George loved to travel especially to visit his son and family in Germany and to attend reunions with his shipmates on the Fiske and the Sturtevant.
George is survived by his son Mark A. Haray (Gordana) of Germany; his granddaughter Nina Bensel (Arthur) of Germany; his great grandchildren: Enna and Elisa Bensel; and many extended family and dear friends.
He was pre-deceased by his beloved Margaret, his parents, and his siblings.
Visiting Hours will be held on Friday, August 5, 2022 from 4-7 PM at Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood Street, Bristol. His funeral will be held on Saturday, August 6, 2022 from Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood Street, Bristol, RI at 9 a.m., with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Mary Church, 330 Wood Street, Bristol. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Chestnut Street, Bristol.
