Mrs. Filomena D. "Phyllis" (Fiorito) Donahue

Mrs. Filomena D. “Phyllis” (Fiorito) Donahue, age 95 of Lafayette Drive, Bristol, died Sunday, October 14, 2018 at St. Elizabeth’ s Manor, Bristol, surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late William Francis Donahue, who preceded her in death in 1962. Born and raised in Providence, she was a daughter of the late Vincenzo and Domenica (Bertelli) Fiorito. Phyllis attend Central High School, Providence and was a Bristol resident for 58 years. She worked in the Jewelry Manufacturing industry for many years working for B.A. Ballou and R& J Manufacturing Company, where she retired from in 1986. She worked at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church Rectory and School for a number of years, where she was a communicant. A staunch democrat, she was a member of the Women’s Democratic Club for a number of years. After losing her husband to cancer she was an active volunteer for many years for the American Cancer Society. She was an avid bowler, playing in a number of leagues in her younger days and loved cooking for family and friends and won first place in the East Bay meatball competition in 2002. She is survived by her four children; William F. Donahue, Jr., Charles P. Donahue, Bruce A. Donahue (Mary Ellen), all of Bristol and Lori A. Nunes of Greenboro, NC, nine grandchildren; Ern Vail (Matthew), Elizabeth, Courtney L., Ian W., Emily B., Colin M., Eden V. Donahue, Brooke L. and Brianna A. Fernandes, four great grandchildren; Gabriel Vail, Amya Pugh, Mylo and Sonny Vail, and her siblings; Rose Martone (Mario) of Providence, Adeline Guiliano, Frank Fiorito and Nancy Fiorito, all of Cranston. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson; Justin M. Nunes, and siblings; Norma Correra, Josephine Breece, Vincenzo and Luigi Fiorito. Funeral services from the Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood Street, Bristol, Friday, October 19, 2018 at 9:00 AM with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 141 State Street, Bristol. Burial will follow in North Burial Ground, Hope Street, Bristol. Visiting hours Thursday, October 18, 2018 from 4:00-7:00 PM.
