May 11, 1930 ~ June 9, 2022 (age 92) 92 Years Old

Tribute

Dolores Ann (Sousa) Sousa, age 92, passed away peacefully Thursday June 9, 2022 after bravely battling a challenging illness. She was the loving wife of her equally loving and devoted husband of sixty-two years, the late Dennis T. Sousa

Born and raised a life-long Bristolian, she was the daughter of the late Ermina Gomes Sousa and Antone Falco Sousa.

Forever known as the lovely “Nan” and “Mom,” she was a gentle and guiding spirit, a woman of pure love, and the kindest, and most caring grandmother and mother anyone could have been lucky enough to have.A woman of intellect and curiosity, her kindness was met with great intelligence. She was self-taught, always loved reading and learning about the world. She was an heirloom quality crocheter, a superb chef and baker, a quality seamstress, and fluent in both English and Portuguese. A devout Catholic and strong with her faith, she was a lifelong parishioner of Saint Elizabeth’s church. An avid lover of the Christmas season, she passed along many traditions and shared decades of yuletide memories to family and friends. A woman of conviction, she was once a lifelong Democrat, until her pro-life beliefs coupled with President Clinton lying under oath, gave her an awakening to become a registered Republican since 2008.

She is survived her daughter Janet Sousa Grapentine grandson and love of her life Will Sousa Grapentine, both with whom she lived with. In addition, she leaves her grandson Frank D. Camera, two great-grandchildren, her three sisters-in-law, the family dog Sammy, and many nieces and nephews.

Dolores was predeceased by her beloved Dennis, her children: Christine S. Camera, and Joseph B Sousa; and both of her parents.
