Tribute

Mr. David G. McLaughlin, age 90 of Beach Road, Bristol, died peacefully Wednesday, September 9, 2020 at his home surrounded by his loving family and close friends.

Born in Bristol and a lifelong resident, he was a son of the late William P. and Eva E. (Fahey) McLaughlin. David served as a Corporal in the US Army during the Korean Conflict period. He was a graduate of LaSalle Academy in Providence.

David was the Purchasing Manager for the former Providence Wholesale Drug Co., formerly in Providence for 38 years, leaving them in 1987 and worked the last 4 years of his career in Sales with the United Research Lab of Bensalem, PA retiring in 1992. David was a very active Communicant of St. Mary of the Bay Parish in Warren, where he served as a Eucharistic Minister, Sacristan, member of the St. Vincent de Paul Society, a Religious Education Teacher and ran the training program for Altar Servers of the parish for many years.

He is survived by several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Virginia M. McLaughlin, Eva C. Ryone and Mary M. Pease and three brothers, John F., Edward J. and William P. McLaughlin.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial Friday, September 18, 2020 at 10:00 AM in St. Mary of the Bay Parish Church, 645 Main Street, Warren, RI. Burial with Military Honors will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Chestnut Street, Bristol. Visiting hours are respectfully omitted.

Social distancing guidelines, use of facemasks and seating capacity limits will be in place.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary of the Bay Parish, 645 Main Street, Warren, RI 02885 for their Food Pantry and Outreach Ministries.
