Anthony John Valentino Jr.

January 13, 1956 ~ July 14, 2019 (age 63) 63 Years Old

Tribute

On Sunday, July 14, 2019, Anthony “Tony” John Valentino Jr., 63, passed away peacefully after a long, courageous battle with brain cancer. He departed this life at the Philip Hulitar Hospice Center surrounded by loving family.

Tony was born on January 13, 1956 in Brooklyn, NY, to Anthony and Yolanda (Alfinito) Valentino. The middle child, between elder brother, Carl, and younger sister, Mary Ann, he brought much joy to his family.  On December 10, 1983, he married Diane Finck. Together, they raised one daughter, Amy. Tony and Diane moved to Rhode Island in 2018 to be closer to their daughter.

Tony enjoyed watching sports, particularly his favorite baseball team, the NY Mets.  He had loved old movies, and would often quiz his family and friends on various actors and actresses.  Tony was a fan of Stephen King, and instilled that same passion for reading in his daughter. Tony balanced his incredible kindness and gentleness with a dry wit and a prankster’s sense of humor. His family regularly teased him about his picky eating habits and he usually joked that, when he passed, his tomb stone would say, “Here lies Tony Valentino, never ate a sandwich in his life.”

He was preceded in death by his father, Anthony, mother, Yolanda, brother, Carl, and daughter, Mary Elizabeth.  He is survived by his wife, Diane, and beloved daughter, Amy, and her husband, Nathan, whom he loved like his own son.  He is also survived by his little sister, Mary Ann, her husband, Thomas, and their daughter, Victoria.  He leaves behind his Uncle Pat and a plethora of cousins.

A memorial will be held on Friday, July 26, 2019 at Sansone Funeral Home from 4 to 7 pm at 192 Wood St, Bristol, RI 02809.  A private interment will take place at the Cremation Garden at North Burial Ground in Bristol, RI.
