Amelia M. Notarangelo

May 13, 1934 ~ January 2, 2021 (age 86) 86 Years Old

Tribute

Amelia M Notarangelo, 86, of Warren passed away January 2nd at Evergreen House Health Center in East Providence. She was the daughter of the late Antonio and Nora (DArcangelo) Notarangelo. A graduate of Bristol High School, Amelia was born and raised in Bristol, RI before moving to Warren 53 years ago.

Ms. Notarangelo retired from Raytheon Corporation in 1975 where she worked assembling computers. She also worked in various family owned restaurants in the Newport area. At the age of 80, she started her own business, Off the Hook Hats, designing and crocheting colorful hats which she sold at craft fairs throughout RI.

Amelia loved to shop and was always ready for a trip to Kohl’s and Walmart. Discovering home shopping in her later years, Amelia was devoted to QVC, surprising her son and daughter in law with deliveries of gourmet foods. She loved to play the slots and her family loved surprising her with impromptu trips to the casinos. She was known as a wonderful baker and her family and friends looked forward to receiving her cookies on holidays.

As a young woman, Amelia dreamed of traveling and loved taking cruises with her family. She was thrilled to travel to Las Vegas for her 80th birthday and was especially happy to travel to Kentucky to visit her son and daughter-in-law, where she bet at Churchill Downs and ate Chinese food for the first (and last!) time. Her family will always remember her excitement putting her feet into the water on a beach in Bermuda, enjoying the buffet at Caesars in Las Vegas and the thrill of seeing Christmas lights in Disney World.

Ms. Notarangelo is survived by her devoted son, Michael Notarangelo and his wife, Sherry, of Lebanon Junction, KY as well as four cherished grandchildren; Chelsea Sperandio (Stephen,) of Windermere, FL, Zachary Notarangelo of East Providence, RI, Lucas Notarangelo of Boston, MA and Lynne Notarangelo of Seekonk, MA. She was the sister of the late Loretta Mahoney, Anna Delgado, Mary Garret, Grace Abenante, Dominic, Vincent, and Julio Notarangelo. Amelia also leaves the staff of Evergreen House Health Center and Hope Hospice who cared for her during her final months. Her family is forever grateful for their compassion, kindness and skill.
