Amelia (Damaso) Medeiros, 71, passed away September 19, 2020 at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence. 
 
She was the wife of the late Virginio Medeiros for  30 years.
 
Born in Sao Miguel, Azores she was the daughter of the late Jacinto and Ambrosina Correira.
 
Amelia worked as a machine operator at Martin Copeland for many years until her retirement in 2001. Amelia loved plants and gardening. Amelia had a green thumb and could bring any plant back to life to the point that anyone and everyone would bring her there dying plants to resurrect. She also loved to cook, especially for her grandchildren and family gatherings. She was a surrogate grandmother to many people  and always had a meal ready. Amelia showed love through her cooking. No matter the day or time, you could always get a delicious meal at her house. She made the best Portuguese “biscoitos” and homemade cinnamon liqueur. 

Amelia is survived by her son Eugene Medeiros and his wife Gail. She also leaves behind two grandchildren, Zachary Ambrose and Connor Medeiros. She will also be remembered by her siblings, Connie Carreiro (Luis), Luis Pimental, Carl Pimental (Laura). She also leaves behind her nieces and nephews Hilda Deponte, Sonia Pimental, Cyndie Carreiro, Virginio Medeiros, Moses Maciel, Walter Carreiro, Mark Carreiro and Great nephews Nicholas Freitas and Aidan Freitas

Relatives and friends are invited to a funeral service in her memory on Thursday September 24, 2020 at 10:00 AM in Radiant Christian Church, 895 Main Street, Warren, RI. Visiting hours are respectfully omitted. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 19 Bassett Street, Providence, RI 02903 or to the American Kidney fund at www.kidneyfund.org.
