Winifred J. Smith

Mrs. Winifred J. (Aiello) Smith, age 77, of 99 Woodlawn Avenue, Bristol, died Sunday, October 22, 2006 at her home, surrounded by her family. She was the wife of the late Arnold H. Smith. Born in Bristol and a lifelong resident, a daughter of the late James and Catherine (Puya) Aiello. Mrs. Smith was an executive assistant for the former Kaiser Aluminum Chemical Corp in Bristol and Portsmouth for 25 years before retiring in 1987. She also worked at the Blithewold Mansion and Gardens and East Bay Credit Union both in Bristol. She was a communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Bristol. Survivors include a son, Stephen J. Smith and his wife Deborah of Lincoln and a daughter, Patricia L. Manchester of Bristol, three grandchildren, Megan C. and Erin A. Manchester, and Alyssa C. Smith, a great granddaughter, Leala Mae Manchester, two sisters, Jacqueline Armillotto and Dolores Candelmo, bothof Bristol. She was also the dear aunt to Dena Blaska and Amanda Hawley.Funeral services from the Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood Street, Bristol, Wednesday at 9:00 AM with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 141State Street, Bristol. Burial will follow in North Burial Ground, Hope Street, Bristol. Visiting hours Wednesday morning 8:00-9:00 AM.
