Mr. William J. Maisano, age 93, of 87 Beach Road, Bristol, died Monday, May 21, 2007 at his home. He was the husband of the late Betty C. (Cicerchia) Maisano. Born in Bristol and a lifelong resident, he was a son of the late John and Anne (Santo) Maisano. A Licensed Insurance and Real Estate Agent, he owned and operated the former William J. Maisano Insurance Agency and Realty Co., formerly on Wood St., Bristol for over 40 years, retiring in 1990. He was the current President of Gooding Realty Corp in Bristol. He founded with his late wife the former Bristol Credit Union. He was a former Mutual Clerk with both the former Narragansett Raceway and Lincoln Downs in the 1950s and 1960s and was a Past President and Past Treasurer of the International Union AFL-CIO Race Track Union in the 1960s. Mr. Maisano served during WWII in the Army Air Corps. He was a graduate of Colt Memorial High School, Class of 1934, he attended Providence College and was a graduate of Hartford Insurance School in Hartford, CT. He was a communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Bristol and a life member and past president of the Bristol County Lions Club. He is survived by two daughters, Anne M. Masse of Bristol, Beth M. Smith of Edgartown, MA and a son, William J. Maisano, II of Bristol, a brother, Owen J. Maisano of Providence, and five granddaughters, Alison Smith of Philadelphia, PA, Meredith Smith of Boston, Vanessa M. Masse, Andrea Lynn and Laura Betty Maisano, all of Bristol. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by seven brothers, Owen, Salvatore, Anthony, Carmine “Pip”, Pasquale, John and Louis Maisano and five sisters, Emily Proto, Betty Romano, Lucy Camera, Virginia DelToro and Helen Mello. Funeral services from the Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood Street, Bristol, Saturday, May 26, 2007 at 9 AM with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 141 State St., Bristol. Burial with Military Honors will follow in St. Marys Cemetery, Chestnut St., Bristol. Visiting hours, Friday, 4-7 PM. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the MS Society of RI, 205 Hallene Road, Warwick, RI 02886 or to Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 141 State St., Bristol, RI 02809.
