Delmage
February 1, 1935 – April 13, 2026
William A. Delmage, 91, of Bristol, RI died on April 13, 2026. He was the husband of Leonora (Ruggiero) Delmage to whom he was married on June 7, 1958.
Born in Rumson, New Jersey on February 1, 1935, he was a son of the late George D. Delmage and the late Helen (Perrine) Delmage. He was raised and educated in Warren, RI and following his marriage he moved to neighboring Bristol where he has resided for many years.
He earned a degree in electrical engineering from Roger Williams College and proudly served with the Rhode Island National Guard for a total of eight years.
"Papa" loved working with his hands and teaching his grandchildren the "tools of the trade" as they spent time tinkering in the garage.
Times spent on the water were most memorable to him as he enjoyed boating and sports on the water,
Crossword puzzles were a favorite pastime but creating lifelong memories for his family to cherish were of utmost importance to him.
A selfless man, he was always helping family, friends or a neighbor.
For ten years he served as a volunteer firefighter for the Town of Bristol, was a member of the Hopeworth Association and volunteered for decades cooking at the annual Our Lady of Mount Carmel feasts,
In addition to his wife, he leaves his children: William M. Delmage and his wife, Tammie E. Delmage, of Bristol; Peter J. Delmage and his wife, Arlene Delmage, of Vancouver, Washington; MaryEllen Donahue and her husband, Bruce Donahue, of Bristol and Michael A. Delmage and his wife, Natalie Delmage, of Bristol.
Beloved "Papa" to Benjamin, Jonathan, Mitchell, Sean, Davis, Ian, Colin Luca, Mia and his great grandchildren: Carter, Grace and Cece.
Brother of the late George D. Delmage and the late Flora Sousa.
He also leaves numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Friday, April 17, 2026, from 9:00 am until 10:30 am in the Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood Street, Bristol, RI followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am at Our Lady of Mount Carmel,141 State Street, Bristol.
Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Bristol.
Omit flowers. Memorial donations may be made to the OLMC school.
