Warren Allen Brown, a proud veteran of the United States Coast Guard (1972-1980) and the United States Army (1980-2002), passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was the devoted husband of Mary Mello Brown (Gabriela) for 44 years and the loving father of his daughter, Lindsey Brown.
Born in Central Falls, Rhode Island, Warren was the son of the late Frank and Aline (Barney) Brown.
Warren took immense pride in his more than three decades of service to his country. He served as a shift commander of the Public Safety Department at Roger Williams University for many years before his official retirement.
Warren lived a life rich in friendships, service, and kindness, touching the hearts of all who knew him. He was a loyal friend, a trusted colleague, and a neighbor you could always count on. But of all his roles in life, the ones he cherished most were husband, father, son, brother, son-in-law, and brother-in-law. His daughter was his world, and everything he did—from the smallest gesture to the greatest sacrifice—was guided by that deep and unwavering love for her. His grand-dog Whiskey was his best buddy and always along for his many daily errands and car rides. Those who knew Warren will remember not only his dedication, but also his willingness to help anyone, the warmth and joy he found in the family he so dearly treasured.
Warren had many interests and hobbies over the years, including antiquing, fishing, classic cars, and most recently, restoring mid-century furniture with his daughter for their small business.
In addition to his wife Mary and daughter Lindsey, Warren is also survived by his sister Christine M. Bouley (Paul), his grand-dog Whiskey, and numerous extended relatives. Among them are Fatima Mello, Joseph Mello (Ann), Michael Piazza, Margaret (Mello) Murgo (Kenneth), Haley Bouley, Kenneth Murgo (Chelsea), Tyler Murgo, Tianna Murgo, Kyle Mello, Danielle Mello, and the future generation Kenny, Mia, Valerie, and his “Fern Drive family,” where he resided for nearly 40 years, raising his family surrounded by wonderful friends and neighbors.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Aline, and his siblings, Steven E. Brown, Marsha A. Piazza, and Tracy L. Brown.
