Virginia A. Voltas

Mrs. Virginia A. “Auntie Gin” (Asciolla) Voltas, age 96, of 7 Creek Lane, formerly of 685 Hope St., Bristol, died Wednesday, March 19, 2008 at the Evergreen House, East Providence. She was the wife of the late Joseph V. Voltas. Born in Bristol and a lifelong resident, she was a daughter of the late Antonio and Alexandrina (Russo) Asciolla. She worked for a number of years at the former Collins and Aikman Co., Bristol. She was a communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Bristol and was a volunteer for the Columban Fathers Summer Bazaar for many years. She was well known for crocheting afghans for many family members and friends. She is survived by three nephews and many great nieces and great nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Louis and Andrew Asciolla and three sisters, Filomena Ferrara, Mary Varola and Etta Rossi. Funeral services from the Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood Street, Bristol, Tuesday, March 25, 2008 at 9:00 AM with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 141 State Street, Bristol. Burial will follow in St. Marys Cemetery, Chestnut Street, Bristol. Visiting hours are Monday, 4:00-7:00 PM. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Bristol Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 775, Bristol, RI 02809.
