Mrs. Veronica Ann “Ronnie” (Francis) Tavares, age 84, of Silver Creek Manor, Bristol and formerly of Locust Terrace, Warren, died Friday, Jan. 8, 2010 at the Silver Creek Manor Nursing Home, Bristol. She was the wife of the late Louis M. Tavares. Born and raised in Bristol and a resident for many years, she was a daughter of the late John T. and Mary P. (Pacheco) Francis. Mrs. Tavares was a waitress and hostess at the Lobster Pot Restaurant in Bristol for 20 years, retiring in 2005. She previously worked at the former Fore and Aft Restaurant, Warren. She was a communicant of St. Thomas the Apostle Church and a member of the Warren Senior Center. She received an award from former RI Governor Lincoln Almond for outstanding work in a Hospitality and Tourism Business. She is survived by three children, Louis M. Tavares of Plymouth, MA, Kathleen V. Tavares and her husband Peter Goolgasian of Warwick and Claudia Poissant of Florida, four grandchildren, a great granddaughter, three brothers, Daniel Francis of Warren, Joseph and David Francis, both of Bristol and two sisters, Elizabeth Aguiar and Rita A. Crabtree, both of Bristol. She was preceded in death in addition to her husband and parents by a sister, Margaret Craig and a brother, John Francis. Funeral services from the Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood Street, Bristol, Tuesday, January 12, 2010 at 9:00 AM with a Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:00 AM in St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 500 Metacom Avenue, Warren. Burial will be private. Visitings hours, Monday, Jan. 11 from 4:00 - 7:00 PM.
