Thomas F. Augur, Sr., 83, of East Providence passed away peacefully on Monday, June 23rd, 2025. He was the beloved husband and soulmate of Phyllis (Principe) Augur for the past 35 years before his passing.
Born in New Haven, CT, he was the son of the late Richard and Alberta (French) Augur.
Tom, as he was affectionately known, was a graduate of the University of Connecticut where he earned a degree in Marketing. He would spend many years working in the retail clothing industry as Senior VP for Cherry, Webb, and Touraine in Attleboro, MA and would travel to Asia and Europe on buying trips for the company.
Tom loved the outdoors, especially any activity related to the ocean. He was an avid golfer, lover of classic cars, and voracious reader. He enjoyed weekly visits to the local library and could often be found each morning with a cup of coffee and the Boston Globe.
He spent 15 years at the Pines of Delray retirement community in Delray Beach, FL where he enjoyed connecting with friends, bowling, golfing, and serving as a board member.
Tom was known for his loving and helpful nature. If someone had a project, he would always be available with a toolbox in hand. He loved dogs and would often help neighbors with walkings while they were at work. More than anything, he loved and cherished his family and truly understood the meaning of being a father and husband. He was a blessing to those that knew him and will be missed.
In addition to his wife Phyllis, Tom was the proud father of his children: Melanie A. Peterson (Todd), Eric J. Augur (Dana), Thomas F. Augur, Jr., Jennifer Holden (Frederick), Nicole Szeliga (Richard); his grandchildren: Cole Peterson, Tucker Peterson, Trevor Augur, Quinn Augur, Elise Augur; his brother: Richard Millard Augur, Jr. (Marylyn); and many extended relatives and friends.
Memorial services will be held at a later date.
