Mrs. Theresa (Ferrara) Silva, 97 of 7 Bliven Avenue, Bristol, died Wednesday, June 10, 2009 at Silver Creek Manor Nursing Home, 7 Creek Lane, Bristol. She was the wife of the late Mariano Silva. Born in Bristol and a lifelong resident, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Brigida (Cioffi) Ferrara. She was the owner and operator of The Little Towne Shoppe formerly on Hope Street, Bristol for 37 years, retiring in 1986. She previously worked in several dress making companies in Fall River, MA. Mrs. Silva was a communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Bristol. Her greatest love was her business “The Little Towne Shoppe” she enjoyed dressing and giving personal attention to all her customers, a lot of them were very good friends. She enjoyed her home and loved cooking in her latter years. Although Theresa never had any children of her own, she was a warm, generous and loving aunt to all her nieces and nephews. She is survived by two nieces, Raphelina (DeRosa) LeMaire and Anne (DeRosa) Jackson and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Sadie DeRosa and Ida Saccoccio and six brothers, Anthony, Joseph, Frank, Emile, Nicholas and William Ferrara. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial Friday, June 12, 2009 at 11:30 AM in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 141 State Street, Bristol. Burial will follow in St. Marys Cemetery, Chestnut Street, Bristol. Visiting hours are respectfully omitted. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Dana Farber Cancer Research in Memory of Mariano Silva, 10 Brookline Place West, 6th Floor, Brookline, MA 02445-7226 or to Beacon Hospice, 1 Catamore Blvd., East Providence, RI 02914.
