The Rev. James Joseph O'Brien, S.S.C.

The Rev. James Joseph OBrien, S.S.C., of the Columban Fathers, Bristol, RI, died on Friday, March 20, 2009. A devoted member of the Columban Fathers for 52 years. Born in Dorchester, MA, he wasa son of the late Michael Joseph and Mary Elizabeth (Donovan) OBrien. He was the brother of Sister Catherine OBrien, SND of Brighton, MA and the late Michael F. OBrien and Mary Eileen OBrien. Father OBrien served in Columban mission work in South Korea, Milton, MA, Norwich, CT, Omaha, NE Quincy, MA and most recently in Bristol, RI. He leaves behind cousins in Ireland and in the United States and a host of devoted friends especially Kenneth and Doris Kranefuss of Norwood, MA. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a concelebrated Mass of Christian Burial, Wednesday at 11:00 AM in the Columban Fathers Chapel, 65 Ferry Road, Bristol, RI. Burial willbe in St. Joseph Cemetery, LaGrange Street, West Roxbury, MA on Thursday at 12:00 Noon.Visiting hours Tuesday 4:00-7:00 PM in the Columban Fathers Chapel.
