Steven R. Aldrich

Steven Robert Aldrich, 43, passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love of his family and friends, on November 21, 2023, at Newport Hospital after a brief illness. Steve was born to parents Robert W. Aldrich and Mary Lee Alderink in Newport, RI on March 3, 1980. He attended Middletown High School and dedicated his time to helping others as a peer support counselor to those in crisis and seeking help for substance use, treatment, and recovery. Steve will be remembered for his friendly nature, independent spirit, quick sense of humor, and enduring hope for the future. Whether you were a friend, relative, or someone he spent time counseling, he always had a kind word or witty comment that brought out the light and expectation for a brighter tomorrow. Steve enjoyed spending his time with family and friends, creating art, and playing video games. He was always looking for new music to listen to, or a new book to read, and never turned down the chance to spend an afternoon browsing around shops. Steve is survived by his parents, Robert W. Aldrich and Mary Lee Alderink as well as their spouses Elizabeth Battey Aldrich and Michael Alderink. He is also survived by his son Lincoln Thomas Aldrich. Steve was the youngest of five children and is survived by his sisters, Kimberlee Nauges, Cheryl Kennedy, Rebecca Smith, and Jennifer Mohon, along with his brothers in law, and six nieces and nephews. His time on earth was cut tragically short. The profound loss we feel for him is a reminder of the joy of loving him. He will be missed beyond measure. The family wishes to thank the nurses, doctors, and staff at the visitor registration desk of Newport Hospital for their care and compassion. Visitation will be held at Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood Street, Bristol on Monday, December 4, 2023 from 9:00 AM 10:00 AM. An In-house Memorial service will follow at 10 AM. Steven will be laid to rest at Juniper Hill Cemetery, Sherry Avenue, Bristol.
