Shirley M. Staples

Mrs. Shirley M. (Rishe) Staples, age 87, of 66 Washington Street, Bristol, died Friday, July 21, 2006 at the Rhode Island Hospital, Providence. She was the wife of the late Walter O. Staples, Jr. Born in Bristol and a lifelong resident, she was a daughter of the late Elmer F. and Mildred L. (McCauley) Rishe. She worked for the Newport Creamery, formerly in Bristol, the Rhode Island Hospital Dietary Department, in Providence and worked as an inspector for a number of years at the American Tourister Company, formerly in Warren until retiring a number of years ago. Mrs. Staples was a member of St. Michael's Episcopal Church, Bristol. She is survived by a daughter, Paula Tavares of Bristol and a son, Ronald A. Staples of Florida. Also survived by five grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and a great great grandchild. Funeral Services from the Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood Street, Bristol Monday, July 24, 2006 at 9:00 AM with a Requiem Eucharist Service at 10:00 AM in St. Michael's Episcopal Church, 399 Hope Street, Bristol. Burial will follow in North Burial Ground, Hope Street, Bristol. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Michael's Church, 399 Hope Street, Bristol, RI 02809.
