Mr. Robert R. Schinigoi, age 81, of Cole Street, Bristol, passed away on Monday, January 18, 2010 at Rhode Island Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Dorothy (Alves) Schinigoi, his wife of 57 years. Born in Bristol and a lifelong resident, he was a son of the late Anthony and Filomena (Uggeri) Schinigoi. Robert worked for Lawrence Ready Mix in Swansea for over 40 years, retiring in 1990. He was a member of the Teamsters Local 251. He served in the US Navy as a Seaman First Class on the USS Princeton during WWII. He was communicant of St. Elizabeths Church and a member of the Bristol Rod and Gun Club. Besides his wife, he leaves his daughter, Candace R. Sarasin and her husband, Donald of Warren, and his son, Robert R. Schinigoi, Jr. and his wife Carol (Burgess) of Bristol. He also leaves his four grandchildren, Matthew and Ryan Sarasin and Chelsea and Krystyna Schinigoi. In addition to his parents, he was brother of the late Ludwig Schinigoi, Marie Brown, John Schinigoi and Elizabeth Lopes. Funeral services from the Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood Street, Bristol, Friday, January 22 at 9:00 AM with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in St. Elizabeths Church, 577 Wood Street, Bristol. Burial with Military Honors will follow in North Burial Ground, Hope Street, Bristol. Visiting hours Thursday, January 21 from 4:00-8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Bristol Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 775, Bristol, RI 02809 or to the American Lung Association of RI, 260 West Exchange St., Suite 102 B, Providence, RI 02903.
