Mr. Robert W. “Bob” Barlow, age 85, of 12 Fatima Drive, Bristol, died peacefully on Saturday, January 17, 2009 at the Grand Islander Health Care Center, Middletown, surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of the late Veronica F. “Vicky” (Bouchard) Barlow. Born in Fall River, MA, he was a son of the late Samuel and Florence (Ashworth) Barlow. He was a resident of Bristol for most of his life. Mr. Barlow served in the US Army during WW II. An upholsterer, he owned and operated V. and B. Custom Upholstery on Hope Street for many years retiring in 1968. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Bristol and served as a Deacon for many years. He was an avid bowler andplayed in the Dudek Bowling Alley Leagues for many years. He is survived by a son, Chester T. “Butch” Barlow of East Providence and a daughter, Susan B. Coggeshall of Bristol, five grandchildren, Ronald D. Coggeshall, Jr., Robin J. Harden, both of Bristol, William Barlow in Mississippi, Peter Cortellessa in Florida and Lori Rodrigues of Newport, five great grandchildren, Ryan M. Coggeshall, Macey N. Harden, Kyle F. Coggeshall, Joshua A. and Jacob A. Costa and a great great grandson, Aden L. Costa, a sister, Claire Balzano of Bristol, two brothers, Raymond Barlow in Florida and Kenneth Barlow of Bristol. He is also survived by his dear friend and caregiver, Lori Mansi of Warren and his beloved dog, Winston. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Brian Barlow and a brother, Chester Barlow. Funeral services from the Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood Street, Bristol, Thursday, January 22, 2009 at 9:00 AM with a funeral service at 10:00 AM in the First Baptist Church, 250 High Street, Bristol. Burial with military honors to follow in North Burial Ground, Hope Street, Bristol. Visiting hours, Wednesday, 4:00-7:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimers Association, RI Chapter, 245 Waterman St., Suite 306, Providence, RI 02906.
