Mrs. Raphelina (DeRosa) LeMaire, age 94, of 7 Bliven Avenue, Bristol, died Saturday, July 25, 2009 at Grace Barker Nursing Center, Warren, surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Leon O. LeMaire, Jr. Born in Bristol and a resident for most of her life, she was a daughter of the late Pasquale and Sadie (Ferrara) DeRosa. A Bristol resident, she was a former resident of Whiteville, NC, Washington, NC and Jamestown, NY. A school teacher, Mrs. LeMaire was a graduate of RI College and taught at Colt-Andrews School in Bristol, where she was one of the originators of the IGE program, for 17 years, retiring in 1978. She previously taught at the former St. Elizabeths School in Bristol for two years. After she retired, she always looked back fondly on all those years she spent teaching her students at both St. Elizabeths and Colt-Andrews. She was a communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Bristol, a member of the Barrington Womens Club, a member of AARP, she was an avid reader and was a gourmet cook. Most of all she was a devoted mother and grandmother, who loved spending time with her family. She is survived by her daughter, Jane A. Hennessey of Swansea, MA, her daughter-in-law, Lynn LeMaire Chaput of North Chelmsford, MA, four grandchildren, Christian R. Picard of Bridgewater, MA, Noelle T. Picard of Bridgeport, CT, Dr. Beth LeMaire-Carter of Springfield, MA and Charles T. LeMaire of Boston, MA, a great grandson, Alexander Carter and a sister, Anne Jackson of Bristol. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Leon O. LeMaire, III, Esq., a brother, Salvatore DeRosa, a sister, Josephine Pinhero and her devoted aunt, Theresa C. Silva, who died in June. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a graveside service, Saturday, August 8, 2009 at 11:30 AM in St. Marys Cemetery, Chestnut Street, Bristol. Visiting hours are respectfully omitted. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute Research, In Memory of Leon O. LeMaire, III, 10 Brookline Place West, 6th Floor, Brookline, MA 02445-7226.Arrangements have been entrusted to the Sansone Funeral Home, Bristol.
