Mrs. Philomena J. (Vieira) Torres, age 76, of 382 Wood Street, Bristol, died Friday, April 27, 2007 at Roger Williams Medical Center, Providence. She was the wife of Manuel “Sonny” Torres, her husband of 53 years. Born in Bristol and a lifelong resident, she was a daughter of the late Manuel and Anna (Pacheco) Vieira. Mrs. Torres was a Teachers Aide in the Bristol Elementary Schools for 22 years, retiring in 1992. She had previously worked at the Bristol County Water Authority for a number of years. She was a communicant of St. Elizabeths Church, Bristol and a member of the Holy Rosary Sodality at the church. She was a graduate of Colt Memorial High School, Class of 1950. She loved playing Bingo, Bowling and Fishing. She is survived in addition to her husband by a daughter, Ann Marie Goglia and her husband Victor, two sisters, Mary Luciano and Alice Correia and a brother, Manuel Vieira, Jr., all of Bristol. She was preceded in death in addition to her parents by a sister, Annie Fortin. Funeral services from the Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood Street, Bristol, Wednesday, May 2, 2007 at 8:00 AM with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00 AM in St. Elizabeths Church, 577 Wood Street, Bristol. Burial will follow in St. Marys Cemetery, Chestnut Street, Bristol. Visiting hours, Tuesady, 4:00 - 7:00 PM.
