Peter 'Sonny' Proto

Mr. Peter “Sonny” Proto, age 70, of Sweeney Lane, Bristol, died Tuesday, February 19, 2008 at Rhode Island Hospital, Providence. He was the husband of the late Elaine (Corbiere) Proto. Born in Bristol and a lifelong resident, he was the son of the late Michael and Jennie (Andreozzi) Proto. He graduated from Colt Memorial High School, Class of 1956 and attended New England Technical Institute where received a certificate in Electronics. He served in the RI National Guard for 3 years during peacetime. Mr. Proto was employed by the Raytheon Corporation in Portsmouth for 30 years retiring in the early 2000s. He was a communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Bristol and was a avid Karaoke Singer, singing all throughout Rhode Island and was crowned the “King of Karaoke” by his peers. He is survived by a brother, Michael J. Proto and his wife, Vivian of Tiverton, a niece, Paula Alves and her husband, Herman of Bristol and two great nephews, Michael and James Alves of Bristol. Funeral Services from the Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood Street, Bristol, Friday, February 22, 2008 at 9:00 AM with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 141 State Street, Bristol. Burial will follow in St. Marys Cemetery, Chestnut Street, Bristol. Visiting hours, Thursday, 4:00-6:00 PM.
