Peter R. Barboza

Mr. Peter R. Barboza, Sr., age 80 of Rosedale Drive, Bristol, died Monday, June 25, 2018 at the Newport Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of the late Ethel (August) Barboza, who preceded him in death in February of 2006. Born in Bristol and a lifelong resident of Bristol and Warren, he was a son of the late Peter J. and Mary (Enos) Barboza. A graduate of Warren High School, Class of 1955, he played on their Baseball Team. Peter worked as a service manager for DeBlois/Petro Oil in Pawtucket, retiring in 2001 after a career of 31 years. He previously worked for the former Murphy Oil in Bristol. He was a communicant of St. Elizabeths Church, Bristol, he enjoyed playing the guitar, time spent with his family especially his grandchildren. Loved organizing family picnics, going on cruises and spending time in Colt State Park with his late wife, and was a New England Patriot and Boston Red Sox fan. He leaves three sons; Peter R. Barboza, Jr. (Roberta) and Kenneth N. Barboza (Luisa) of Bristol and James J. Barboza (Nelia) of Warren, four grandchildren; Ashley Salter (John), Marissa Barboza, Justin and Tyler Barboza and a sister, Ethel Marshall of Bristol. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by five sisters; Betty Carvara, Angie Soucy, Adeline Travers, Genevieve Rodrigues and Mary Zinni. Funeral services from the Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood Street, Bristol, Friday, June 29, 2018 at 8:00 AM with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00 AM in St. Elizabeths Church, 577 Wood Street, Bristol. Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Wampanoag Trail, East Providence. Visiting hours will be Thursday, June 28, 2018 from 4:00-7:00 PM.
