Paul L. Stanzione

June 26, 1926 — October 17, 2006

Mr. Paul L. Stanzione, age 80, of 228 State St., Bristol, died Tuesday at Rhode Island Hospital, Providence. Born in Bristol and a lifelong resident, he was a son of the late Luigi and Angelina (Velleca) Stanzione. Mr. Stanzione was a millwright in the maintenance dept. of Kaiser Aluminum Corp, formerly in Bristol for 35 years, retiring in the early 1970s. He had owned and operated several small businesses in the Newport area. He served in the US Army during WWII in Germany and was a graduate of Colt Memorial High School, Bristol. He was a communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Bristol, where he was an Usher and a member of the 16th of July Feast Committee for many years. He was a member of the Bristol Council #379, Knights of Columbus, Bristol and a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus, St. Pius X Assembly # 1060 in Barrington, the Bristol County Lodge of Elks, the Bristol Democratic Town Committee and the Leonardo daVinci Lodge, Sons of Italy. He was a former Bristol Police Dept. Reserve Officer. He is survived by a brother, Gaetano J. Stanzione, three sisters, Caroline G. Criscuolo, Antonetta S. Ray and Emily Reavis, all of Bristol and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Sabato, Ralph F., Angelo C., Anthony M. and Louis F. Stanzione and a sister, Elizabeth S. Graziosa. Funeral services from the Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood St., Bristol, Friday, Oct. 20, at 9:00 AM with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 141 State Street, Bristol. Burial with Military Honors will follow in St. Marys Cemetery, Chestnut St., Bristol. Visiting hours, Thursday, 4:00 - 8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 141 State St., Bristol, RI 02809.
