Paul E. Romano Jr.

Paul E. Romano, 86, of Bristol passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, with his loving family at his side. He was the husband of Cathryn (Pereira) Romano for 55 years before her passing in March of 2019. He was the son of the late Paul and Philomena (Capone) Romano. Paul graduated from Colt Memorial High School in Bristol in 1956. After high school he served our nation in the United States Army. Upon leaving the Army, he studied at North Carolina State University and graduated with a degree in Civil Engineering. He also attended Division Engineering at Factory Mutual and completed their program. Paul was the Chief Civil Engineer for the Rhode Island Department of Transportation for most of his career. He was also the Bristol Town Engineer and the Director of Public Works before retiring. He is survived by his daughters: Lesli A. Romano, Michele Sharpe (Louie), Jennifer L. Cabral (Christopher); his grandchildren: Rowan F. Field, Bridget C. Field, Peyton A. Sharpe; and many extended family and friends. In addition to his beloved Cathryn, Paul was pre-deceased by parents Paul and Philomena; and his siblings: Louis Romano, Matthew Romano, and Erminia "Ernie" Romano. Visiting Hours will be held at Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood Street, Bristol on Monday, October 21, 2024 from 4-7 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Graveside Service at St. Marys Cemetery, Chestnut Street, Bristol on Tuesday, October 22, 2024 at 10 AM.
