Nicholas M. Conti, 85, of Bristol passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, at HopeHealth Hulitar Hospice Center in Providence with his family at his side. He was the husband of Rose Ann (Cirillo) for 57 years before his passing.
Born in Bristol, he was the son of the late Luigi and Caroline (Maturi) Conti Baum.
Nicholas was a communicant of our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. He graduated from Colt Memorial High School in 1958 and then attended Vaughn Barbering School in 1959. He served our nation in the United States Army Reserve during the Vietnam era.
Nicholas was the co-owner of County Road Barbershop in Barrington, RI for many years and served as the barber for the Rhode Island Veterans Home in Bristol. He was an avid sports fan who loved watching and talking about sports in the barbershop. He enjoyed cooking and yardwork; but most of all he loved spending time with his family and Bear, his beloved Shih Tzu.
Nick was a proud member of the Bristol King Philip Little League All Star Team that won the RI state championship in 1952. In high school he lettered in both baseball as a shortstop and basketball as a guard. Basketball was his number one sport and baseball and football were a close second. He often stayed up all night switching channels to catch highlights of multiple games. Watching Larry Bird and Tom Brady were his favorite past times.
Nick was an animal lover having many dogs over the years always adopting from local shelters.
He was a fine connoisseur of all things Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Dean Martin and other contemporary crooners.
His generosity could not be matched. Many nights he could be found cooking for people, taking friends out to dinner, lending a hand or making charitable contributions.
He is survived by his wife Rose; his children: Nicholas M. Conti, Jr. and Mary (Conti) Alves (Alexander); his grandchildren: Noah A. Alves and Morgan Mary Rose Alves; his brother: Louis G. Conti; and many extended relatives and friends.
Visiting Hours are respectfully omitted. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at 10 am at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 141 State Street, Bristol. Burial will be private.
