Ms Maria Hortense Marques

Ms. Maria Hortense (daSilva) Marques, age 88, of 9 Monroe Avenue, Bristol, died Monday, April 23, 2012 at the Crestwood Nursing and Convalescent Home, 568 Child Street, Warren. Born in St. Michael, the Azores, she was a daughter of the late Manuel Moniz and Maria deGloria (Moniz) daSilva. Hortense was a resident of Bristol for 45 years, moving from the Azores. She was a stitcher for American Tourister Company formerly of Warren for 22 years, retiring in 1988. She was a communicant of St. Elizabeth's Church, Bristol and enjoyed sewing and working around her home and gardens. She is survived by a son, Paul J. Marques of San Jose, CA and a daughter, Oriana S. Marques of Rumford, two grandchildren, Cassandra Elizabeth Marques-Leach and Paulo Marques and a sister, Lourdes Correia in the Azores. She is also survived by her former husband, Rodrigo Marques. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Olivia Moniz and Maria de Conceicao Pires, and three brothers, Manuel Moniz daSilva, John Moniz Cabral and Jose Moniz Cabral. Funeral services from the Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood Street, Bristol, Thursday, April 26, 2012 at 9:00 AM with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in St. Elizabeth's Church, 577 Wood Street, Bristol. Burial will follow in North Burial Ground, Hope Street, Bristol. Visitation will be Thursday morning only from 8:00-9:00 AM.
