Ms. Constance A. (Byron) Williams, age 81, of 01191 Narragansett Avenue, Prudence Island, died Thursday, March 17, 2016 at her home. She was the wife of Harry S. Sterling. Born in Pawtucket, she was a daughter of the late Roderick and Agnes (Fallow) Byron. Constance was a resident of Prudence Island for 17 years and a former resident of West Warwick. She held a Bachelors degree from URI, and a Masters degree from Goddard College. Constance was the Director of RSVP, Capital Region, for a number of years, retiring in 1999. She previously was the Volunteer Coordinator/Program Developer, IN-SIGHT Radio (for persons with vision impairments), former Executive Director, Rhode Island Working Women, Providence, RI, Regional Manager, Western Region, Simmons Market Research Bureau, Los Angeles, CA, District Sales Manager, Avon Products, New York, NY, Director of Training and Development, Vis-a-Vis, Framingham, MA and an Account Manager and Retail Service Supervisor, Mattel, Inc., Hawthorne, CA. Before her retirement, Constance served on the Permanent Advisory Commission on Women, Rhode Island National Organization for Women, RI Chapter President, URI Alumni Board, URI Alumni Executive Board, URI Feinstein College of Continuing Education Alumni Board and the Rhode Island Womens Political CaucusPolicy Committee. Following her retirement she was active with Stitch and Chat of Prudence Island, and Prudence Book Club. She enjoyed spending time gardening, reading, and knitting. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children: Lynne, Keith, Timothy and Shawn Tucker, her Step-Children: Susan and Judith Sterling, her daughters-in-law, Diana Henderson and Marianne Tucker, her brothers, Douglas and Bruce Byron and her grandchildren, Jeremy and Stephen Tucker, Nicole Powers, Danielle Gardner and great grandchildren, Kali Gardner, Cole Tucker, Aldyia and Bella Briggs. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Danielle Tucker. Relatives and Friends are invited to attend a Memorial service in celebration of Connie life on Sunday, May 22, 2016 at 12:00 Noon in the Union Church of Prudence Island, 3 Pier Road, Prudence Island.
