Ms. Barbara A. Sousa

Barbara A. Sousa, age 55, of Wood St., Bristol, died Saturday, March 20, 2010 at Rhode Island Hospital, Providence surrounded by her loving family. She was the longtime companion of Jack Tolar. Born in Bristol and a lifelong resident she was the daughter of the late Antonio B. and Jennie (Garcia) Sousa. Barbara was a sales associate for Bennys in Bristol for many years and she was a communicant of St. Elizabeths Church, Bristol. In addition to her companion, she will be sadly missed by her brothers and sisters, Anthony B. Sousa, Jr. of Lake Worth, FL, Manuel Sousa of Warwick, Jennie Bouffard, Josephine Sanchas, Kathleen Simmons, and John Sousa all of Warren, William Sousa of Bradenton, FL, Francis Sousa of West Bridgewater, MA, Florence Croteau and David Sousa, both of Bristol. Also survived by twenty-six nieces and nephews and many great nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Annie Borges. Funeral Services from the Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood St., Bristol, Thursday March 25 at 9:00 AM with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in St. Elizabeths Church, 577 Wood St., Bristol. Burial will follow in St. Marys Cemetery. Visiting hours Wednesday from 4:00-8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Home and Hospice Care of RI, 1085 North Main St., Providence, RI 02904.
