Mrs. Veronica M. Almeida

Mrs. Veronica M. (Almeida) Almeida, age 76 of Echo Farm Drive, Bristol, died Tuesday, January 29, 2019 at Miriam Hospital, Providence. She was the wife of Louis A. Almeida, her husband of 55 years. Born in Bristol and a lifelong resident, she was a daughter of the late Herman and Mary (Barboza) Almeida. Veronica was a graduate of Colt Memorial High School, Class of 1960 and then was the only one of a hundred applicants to go on to the Katherine Gibbs School in Providence graduating in 1961. Later she returned to Roger Williams College to graduate with a double Bachelors Degree in both Accounting and Computer Science, Magna Cum Laude. She was the Executive Secretary to the former Governor John Chaffee for several years before raising her family. Veronica was a communicant of St. Elizabeths Church, Bristol. She is survived in addition to her husband by three sons, Christopher J. Almeida (Julie) of Bristol, Stephen Almeida (Christine) of Tampa, FL and Keith L. Almeida (Robin) of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, three grandchildren, Tyler, Olivia and Jessica Almeida, a great granddaughter, Abigail and a sister, Patricia Hunter of Bristol. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Almeida. Funeral services from the Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood Street, Bristol, Saturday, February 2, 2019 at 10:00 AM with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM in St. Elizabeths Church, 577 Wood Street, Bristol. Burial will follow in St. Marys Cemetery, Chestnut Street, Bristol. Visitation will be Saturday morning only starting at 9:00 AM.
