Ursula M. Beauregard, 83, of Punta Gorda, Florida, died peacefully at home on August 24 after an illness. She was a registered nurse and the former owner/administrator of Metacom Manor Health Center in Bristol, RI. Mrs. Beauregard, born in Pawtucket, RI on Feb. 18, 1932, was married to the late Arthur W. Beauregard of Pawtucket, RI for 39 years. Her parents were James T. LaFrenais and Mary V. (Kane) LaFrenais, both of Cumberland. Before retiring to Punta Gorda, FL full time in 2000, she lived in Lincoln, RI for 22 years, then in Bristol, RI for 21 years. Ursula Beauregard is survived by her five children: Arthur W. Jr. (Bill) and wife Kathleen (Kelly); Mark and wife Marie (Turner); Stephan; Karen and husband Stephen MacDonald; Michael and wife Gail (Landry); 16 grandchildren: Jennifer, Jessica, Aaron, Byron, Sandy, Mary Ann, Michael, Lauren, Stephen Jr., Alexandra, Brianne, Jaclyn and Olivia Beauregard, and Sarah, Veronica and Madeleine Bate; and 16 great-grandchildren: Colby, Nicholas, Brody, Joshua, Michael Jr., Thomas, Brianna, Sadie, Nathaniel, Fallon and Connor Beauregard; Collin and Drew Dischert, Ava Carfo, Dante Brunache and James Grant III. Mrs. Beauregard earned a full scholarship to the Pawtucket Memorial Hospital Nursing Program and worked there as a registered nurse for 17 years, then co-owned (with her husband) and served as administrator of the award-winning, innovative Metacom Manor Health Center in Bristol, RI from 1977-1990. She served as president of the RI Health Care Association and VP of the American Health Care Association, President of the Bristol Chamber of Commerce, President of the Pawtucket Junior Women's Club, and was named their National Outstanding Young Woman of the Year in 1965. She served on numerous boards and won many other awards and recognitions for her generous public service through the years. She sponsored an international symposium on pancreatic cancer in Newport, RI and donated a treatment room and family waiting area at Roger Williams Hospital (as well as served as a trustee) following her husbands death in 1990. She was an active member of the Ya Yas, supporting the backpack program for homeless students in Port Charlotte, FL and an active member of the Isles Yacht Club in Punta Gorda, FL. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial Wednesday, September 2, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 141 State Street, Bristol.
