Mrs. Noreen C. Sousa

Mrs. Noreen C. (Tavares) Sousa, age 82 of Richmond Street, Bristol, died Sunday, December 29, 2019 in Tockwotton on the Waterfront, East Providence, surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Joseph B. Sousa, Jr., her husband of 47 years, who preceded her in death the December of 2000. Born and a lifelong resident of Bristol, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Dorothy (Rodrigues) Tavares. Noreen was a material handler for the Raytheon Corporation of Portsmouth for 20 years, retiring in 1993. She previously worked for the Converse Rubber Company, formerly in Bristol. Noreen was a communicant of St. Marys Church, Bristol, she loved knitting, sewing, her home on Richmond Street especially working in her gardens, spending time with her family, and her pets, she was a great animal lover. She is survived by a son, Leonard M. Sousa (Bernice) of East Providence, and a grandson, Eli J. Connors (Kristen) of Bethel, CT. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Lynn Marie (Sousa) Connors and a son, Joseph Richard Sousa. Funeral services from the Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood Street, Bristol, Friday, January 3, 2020 at 10:00 AM with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM in St. Marys Church, 330 Wood Street, Bristol. Burial will follow in St. Marys Cemetery, Chestnut Street, Bristol. Visitation will be Friday morning only from 9:00 AM.
