Mrs Natalie Dias

Mrs. Natalie (Carvalho) Dias of Church Street, Brsitol died unexpectedly Saturday, February 5, 2011, at home amongst family, she was 80 and the downtown community will be missing a piece of their fabric. The daughter of the late Joseph and Delia (Aguiar) Carvalho, she is survived by her husband of 55 years, Freeman Dias, daughters JoAnn Castro and her husband Ken, Elizabeth Caito and her husband Doug and son Michael Dias. She was the sister of Joseph Carvalho, Jr. She leaves seven grandchildren, Christine Raposa and her husband Justin, Corinne Dias, Michael Dias, Jr., Alexander Castro, Joseph Caito, Hailey and Emily Dias; and two great-grandchildren, David Raposa and Hunter Dias and a maternal uncle, Manuel Aguiar. A homemaker, Natalie enjoyed a rich view of Bristolian life from her porch. Natalie stood as the anchor of her family, a strong, unifying presence. Alongside this demanding-but-fulfilling role, Natalie enjoyed a lush life inside and outside her home. A voracious reader, Natalie's wit and candor were apparent in any conversation with her, whether at a party or in the quiet laziness of a summer afternoon. Her children dubbed her 'the original spellcheck' for her constant attention to keeping the written word neat and tidy. Other interests included collecting cookbooks, armchair political commentary, bird watching, and following PBS series. Full of grace, humor, intellect and fortitude, Natalie Dias had a vivid personality --one she brought with her each time she stepped onto her porch. Funeral services from the Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood Street, Bristol, Wednesday, February 9, 2011 at 9:00 AM with a Concelebrated Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in St. Elizabeth's Church, 577 Wood Street, Bristol. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Chestnut Street, Bristol. Visiting hours will be Tuesday, February 8 from 4:00-8:00 PM.
