Mrs. Mary C. (Carpenter) King, age 92 of 21 Mason Avenue, Bristol, died Sunday, July 3, 2011 at her home. She was the wife of the late William S. King. Born in Lancaster, New Hampshire, she was the daughter of the late Frederick and Elizabeth Carpenter. A resident of Bristol for 54 years she previously resided in New Hampshire. She was a clerk at the former Model Grocery Store on High St., Bristol for many years until retiring a number of years ago. She was a member of St. Michael's Episcopal Church, Bristol and enjoyed summering on Hog Island and time spent at the Bristol Elks Club. She is survived by a son, David King of Bristol, and a step daughter, Jean Redmond of Hog Island. In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by a brother, Parker Carpenter. Funeral services and visitation are respectfully omitted. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Friends of the Bristol Animal Shelter, 11 Broad Common Road, Box 155, Bristol, RI 02809.
