Mrs. Mary E. Gallagher

Mrs. Mary E. (Miner) Gallagher, age 89, of Aaron Avenue, Bristol, died Wednesday, April 14 at the Philip Hulitar Hospice Center, Providence. She was the wife of the late Joseph J. Gallagher. Born and raised in Providence and a resident of Bristol most of her life, a daughter of the late William and Mary Edna (Dunn) Miner. She was a member of the first graduating class of the present Hope High School in Providence in 1939 and she received her associates degree from Bryant College. She served in the Womens Air Corps as a first lieutenant during WWII. She was a secretary for the International Laborers Union of North America for 15 years retiring in 1987. She previously worked for the RI Department of Labor for 14 years. She is survived by a son, Michael Gallagher and his wife, Anne Marie Coleman of East Greenwich, a son-in-law, Raymond H. Menard of Warwick, three granddaughters, Tracy A. Coppola and her husband, Chris of East Greenwich, Shanna E. Gallagher of Bristol and Kelly E. Gallagher of East Greenwich, and three great grandsons, CJ, Chad and Cody Coppola of East Greenwich. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Michele A. Menard, a son, Joseph J. Gallagher, Jr., a grandson, Jack Gallagher and a brother, John R. Miner. Funeral services from the Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood Street, Bristol, Saturday, April 17, 2010 at 9:00 AM with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in St. Marys Church, 330 Wood Street, Bristol. Burial will follow in St. Marys Cemetery,Chestnut Street, Bristol. Visiting hours, Friday, April 16 from 4:00-7:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Home and Hospice Care of RI, 1085 North Main St., Providence, RI 02904.
